Glencoe 系列是著名的美国教育图书出版公司McGraw Hill School Education Group 旗下品牌，专门出版初中和高中教材，McGraw-Hill 旗下拥有多个教育品牌系列，分别针对不同年级的学生群体。本系列针对Grade 6-12 (Middle School 和High School)的学生，适合 6 年级及其以上年级使用，其框架之庞大，其内容之丰富，其画面之精美，都可以用无以伦比来形容。

其次，也是最关键的，每一门学科内容覆盖范围特别广，比如：

2. Glencoe Literature: Reading with Purpose 系列

学习快速和有效的阅读的技巧，包括选择文章的观点，理会作者的意图等。适合 6 年级及其以上年级使用。这些课程都不是单纯的背诵内容，而是着眼于实际的阅读活动中培养这些技巧，通过大量的经典文章用来拓展知识面。这些技巧的训练，特别有助于应对美国高考 SAT（ACT）考试，这些训练必须细水长流，天天坚持。

3. Glencoe Literature: The Reader’s choice 系列

学习和阅读各英语国的文学，适合 6 年级及其以上年级使用。

二、数学

美国的数学分为算数（Mathematics）、代数、几何和数据分析，其后又有微积分系列等等。与国内数学不一样的是，美国教学内容安排上不是单纯地知识灌输，而以引导学生独立思考。比如同样的一个定理，国内侧重与定理的内容、证明的方法和应用的实例。但美国数学侧重于引导学员去发现这个定理的过程，也就是说侧重于培养的是思维的方法，掌握了这种思维方法，学员们就有可能自己去发现新的定理。这个可能就是虽然国内学员数学能力普通高于国外，但在最尖端领域却很难超越国外的原因吧。

这套加州数学教材与加州小学教材的一脉相承，适合 G7—12 学生使用

2. 其他数学教材

有的教材的内容与加州教材内容相一致，但也有很多是加州数学教材所没有的，完全可以互为补充使用。

三、地理 (GEOGRAPHY)

美国地理书重来不会单独只将地理，而且天然地喜欢与人文联系起来，合称：人文地理。这一点从教课书的名字上就很容易体现出来。可能老外比较推崇地理影响历史，从而影响当地的人文这种观点吧。

美国的世界地理喜欢按照这样的步骤来编排章节：

世界概论、美国、加拿大、拉丁美洲、欧洲、俄罗斯、北非、西南亚、中亚、非洲撒哈拉南部、南亚、东亚、东南亚、澳大利亚、大洋洲、南极洲。

四、历史（HISTORY）

美国历史教科书可以分为美国历史和世界历史两种。有断代史也有通史。而且版本众多！

1. Discovering Our Past 系列

断代史，每个年级学习一册。当然，书籍收集并不全。

2. American History 系列

单独的美国历史

3. 好多州的历史教科书版本

好多州都有自己版本的历史教科书，比如同样的 WorldHistory，甚至是同样的“ModernTimes”阶段，就有不一样的版本。

五、科学（SCIENCE）

3、科学探索者系列

相当于国内初三年级的生理卫生课，既包括生理健康，也包括了心理健康。美国教材上还加了关于烟草、酒精和其他药物（你懂的）的内容。

八、物理(PHYSICS)

物理传承于科学中的“自然科学”和 “天文地理”系列，但内容更加深刻。

九、化学(CHEMISTRY)

化学传承与科学中的“自然科学”系列，但内容更加深刻，化学在美国教学中属于高中阶段内容。

十、经济学
